Latest Updates: Another minor update to Filfre is available. You'll want to upgrade if you want to play The Shadow in the Cathedral using Filfre, as that game will otherwise not work at all. Also be sure to check out the latest issue of SPAG, which includes reviews of all the game from the just-completed Comp as well as lots of other good stuff.

Hello! Much of what you'll find on this site relates to interactive fiction, a text-based form of computer storytelling with a colorful history and, I devoutly hope, a bright future. If you have never heard of IF, but think you might be interested, please take a look at my Internet-based "book" on the subject and/or my own novel-length work of IF, The King of Shreds and Patches.  Also be sure to check out SPAG magazine, the online quarterly journal of IF of which I am the current editor, and Filfre, my interpreter for playing IF works published in the Z-Code and Glulx formats on Windows-based computers.
